Recently, spy images from Bengaluru have surfaced online, showcasing a camouflaged electric scooter undergoing tests. Codenamed RY01, this upcoming model is expected to be based on the River Indie’s proven chassis and powertrain platform but will feature Yamaha’s distinct design and engineering DNA.

In 2023, Yamaha invested a whopping USD 40 million (over ₹341 crore) into Bengaluru-based EV start-up River. One of the major design changes is the tail-lamp positioning, which is mounted higher than the Indie’s. The side panels have been redesigned to give it a less bulky, more refined look.
