Tata Harrier EV Launched: The Tata Harrier EV has created quite a buzz in the Indian electric vehicle market. Unveiled initially as a concept at the Auto Expo, this electric SUV has evolved significantly to become one of the most anticipated launches of 2025. With its official debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo earlier this year, Tata Motors has positioned the Harrier EV as a powerful and versatile electric SUV tailored for Indian roads and adventurous spirits alike.

Stunning Range and Powerful Performance

One of the biggest highlights of the Tata Harrier EV is its remarkable driving range. Tata claims an impressive 627 km on the MIDC cycle, while real-world usage offers between 480 to 505 km on a single charge. This makes it one of the longest-range electric SUVs in the country, ideal for both city drives and long-distance journeys.

Under the hood, the Harrier EV delivers a peak torque output of 504 Nm, ensuring quick and responsive acceleration. The SUV can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.3 seconds, which is quite commendable for a vehicle of its size and class. Powering the Harrier EV is a sophisticated dual motor setup — a 116 kW induction motor at the front and a more powerful 175 kW rear motor sourced from renowned suppliers Tata AutoComp and Schaeffler respectively. This setup not only boosts performance but also enables Tata to offer an all-wheel-drive variant, catering to off-road enthusiasts who want more control and traction in challenging terrains.

Advanced Battery Technology and Lifetime Warranty

The Tata Harrier EV comes with two battery pack options: a 75 kWh and a 65 kWh pack. Both variants come with a lifetime battery warranty, giving buyers added confidence and peace of mind about battery longevity. The battery pack itself is an LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) unit developed and manufactured in India by Octillion, supported by Tata’s localised supply chain — a clear step towards promoting Make in India initiatives.

Fast charging is another major advantage of the Harrier EV. It supports 120 kW DC fast charging that can recharge the battery from 20% to 80% in just about 25 minutes. If you’re in a hurry, a quick 15-minute charge can deliver up to 250 km of driving range, making it highly practical for everyday use and weekend adventures.

Off-Road Capabilities Like No Other

What truly sets the Tata Harrier EV apart is its focus on ruggedness and off-road ability. Tata Motors has equipped this electric SUV with multiple terrain modes such as normal, mud rust, custom, rock crawl, snow/grass, and sand to tackle a variety of road conditions with ease. A dedicated boost mode further enhances its performance on rough terrain.

The vehicle features an all-wheel-drive system with a dual motor powering each axle independently, allowing better traction and stability on slippery or uneven surfaces. It boasts an approach angle of 25.3 degrees, departure angle of 26.4 degrees, and a breakover angle of 16.6 degrees, ensuring it can handle steep inclines and tricky obstacles effortlessly. With over 50 percent grade-ability, this SUV is built to conquer hilly roads and off-road trails, appealing to adventure seekers.

Additional off-road aids include transparent mode, off-road cruise assist, and a 360-degree camera system — India’s first 540-degree camera view with kerb impact alert — making navigation in tricky conditions safer and more manageable.

Luxurious Cabin with Cutting-Edge Tech

Inside the Tata Harrier EV, the cabin offers a premium and tech-loaded experience. The SUV features a 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system — the world’s first QLED automotive display — with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. This system provides access to over 25 built-in apps, catering to infotainment and navigation needs seamlessly.

Safety and convenience get a boost with Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) sourced from Intel Mobileye, which includes features like adaptive cruise control and auto parking with summon mode, developed in collaboration with Continental.

Stylish Design and Colour Options

The Tata Harrier EV carries forward the muscular and aggressive styling of the conventional Harrier but with subtle EV-specific tweaks that give it a fresh and futuristic appeal. Buyers can choose from five exclusive colour options — Stealth Black, Nainital Nocturne, Empowered Oxide, Pure Grey, and Pristine White — all designed to highlight the SUV’s bold stance on the road.

Pricing and Availability

Built on Tata’s Acti.ev+ platform, a specially adapted version of the OMEGA Arc architecture for electric vehicles, the Tata Harrier EV combines robust engineering with state-of-the-art technology. The electric SUV is priced starting at Rs. 21.49 lakh (ex-showroom), making it competitively positioned in India’s EV SUV segment.

Official bookings for the Tata Harrier EV opened on July 2, 2025, and it is already generating strong interest among buyers looking for a practical, stylish, and performance-driven electric SUV.

Looking Ahead: Tata’s Electric Future

Following the Harrier EV, Tata Motors plans to launch the next-generation Sierra in both internal combustion and electric versions before the end of this financial year. Alongside, the brand is developing the upmarket Avinya lineup, aiming to strengthen its leadership position as India’s top-selling EV manufacturer.

With its remarkable range, advanced technology, off-road prowess, and lifetime battery warranty, the Tata Harrier EV is set to redefine electric SUVs in India. Whether you are a daily commuter, weekend adventurer, or tech enthusiast, this SUV offers something unique for everyone, truly showcasing Tata’s vision for a sustainable and electrified future.
