Nissan Magnite CNG 2025: Nissan Motor India has taken a significant step toward greener mobility with the launch of a government-approved CNG retrofitment kit for the popular compact SUV – the Nissan Magnite CNG. This move aims to provide a cost-effective and fuel-efficient alternative to petrol, especially when fuel prices are consistently rising. Priced attractively at Rs. 74,999, the new CNG kit can be installed only at authorised centres that are certified by the relevant government authorities.

This CNG conversion kit has been developed, tested, and supplied by Motozen, a trusted third-party manufacturer known for its quality components. Motozen will also handle the warranty claims directly, offering peace of mind to car owners. The warranty covers up to three years or one lakh kilometres, whichever comes first, ensuring that customers have a dependable experience post-installation.

Limited Launch Across Key States

Initially, the Nissan Magnite CNG option will be available in select states. Customers residing in Delhi-NCR, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Kerala, and Karnataka can now approach their nearest authorised Nissan dealership to get the retrofitment done. Nissan has confirmed that more states will be added in the upcoming rollout phase, making it accessible to a broader audience across India.

The fitment process is fully standardised and complies with stringent safety and emission norms, ensuring that the retrofitted vehicle is road-legal and safe to drive. This certified and homologated solution is ideal for those who want to switch to a cleaner fuel alternative without compromising on performance or quality.

Compatible Only With Select Variants

It is important to note that the CNG retrofitment is currently available only for 1.0L naturally aspirated petrol engine variants of the Nissan Magnite that are paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Automatic variants and turbocharged engine models are not eligible for this upgrade. While there are no changes to the SUV’s design, interiors, or features, the addition of CNG significantly enhances fuel efficiency, making it a more economical option for daily commutes.

Competitive Pricing and Market Rivals

The Nissan Magnite CNG continues to offer exceptional value in its segment. The price range for Magnite CNG variants falls between Rs. 6.89 lakh and Rs. 10.02 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the chosen trim level. With this offering, the Nissan Magnite CNG directly competes with other compact SUV CNG models like the Tata Punch CNG and Hyundai Exter CNG, both of which have also garnered attention for their eco-friendly credentials.

The introduction of the CNG variant is a strategic move, especially at a time when many customers are actively looking for more budget-friendly and environmentally-conscious vehicle options. The CNG kit also benefits from Nissan’s widespread dealer and service network, ensuring easy access to installation and after-sales support.

Global Presence and Safety Assurance

The Nissan Magnite is not just popular in India but is also exported to over 65 international markets, offered in both left-hand and right-hand drive formats. Known for its stylish design, compact size, and over 55 safety features, the Magnite has built a strong reputation among customers. With the launch of the Nissan Magnite CNG, this success story is only expected to grow further.

Industry Perspective

Speaking about the new development, Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India, shared his thoughts:

“The New Nissan Magnite has been a phenomenal product for us and has led the success story in India. With a view to meet the requirements of customers, Nissan Dealers will provide an alternate fuel option in the form of a government-approved CNG retrofitment kit which will be carried out at the authorised fitment centres for customers. We are confident that this move will enhance the popular compact SUV’s value proposition and practicality.”

This announcement also follows similar developments from Renault, which introduced CNG retrofitment kits for its models like Kwid, Kiger, and Triber earlier in February 2025. The trend clearly shows the growing demand and acceptance of CNG vehicles among Indian consumers.

Final Thoughts

The Nissan Magnite CNG is an excellent option for buyers looking for a balance between performance, affordability, and fuel economy. With its attractive pricing, official warranty support, and standardised safety features, the CNG retrofitment kit adds a practical edge to an already well-rounded compact SUV. As more Indian car buyers shift towards sustainable mobility solutions, the Magnite CNG stands out as a smart and future-ready choice.

If you’re a Nissan Magnite owner in an eligible state, this could be the right time to switch to CNG and start saving on fuel costs without changing your vehicle.
