TVS CNG Scooter: India’s shift towards cleaner and more economical mobility is gaining pace, and TVS Motor Company is all set to accelerate that transformation. The company is preparing to launch its very first TVS CNG Scooter in the second half of 2025, making it the second major two-wheeler brand in India—after Bajaj—to venture into the CNG-powered segment. This significant development follows the recent showcase of the TVS Jupiter CNG at the prestigious 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo.
TVS’s bold step into the CNG two-wheeler space is expected to shake up the commuter market, especially for those looking for cost-effective, environment-friendly alternatives. With this launch, TVS will not only strengthen its foothold in the traditional fuel segment but will also widen its sustainable vehicle portfolio alongside its electric scooters.
TVS Jupiter CNG – What Makes It Unique?
The upcoming TVS CNG Scooter, namely the TVS Jupiter CNG, is expected to be a modified version of the popular Jupiter 125. While its basic design language and structure will closely resemble the standard petrol-powered Jupiter, it will come with unique changes to accommodate the dual-fuel setup. Notable among these changes is the CNG badging and the absence of under-seat storage—since the CNG cylinder is positioned under the seat.
This makes it the world’s first CNG scooter, adding another feather in the cap of India’s evolving automotive industry. While it loses some convenience in terms of boot space (the regular Jupiter 125 offers a generous 33-litre storage), the cost savings from CNG fuel will likely make up for it in daily usage.
Powertrain and Fuel Configuration
The TVS CNG Scooter will feature a dual-fuel system—running on both petrol and CNG. The CNG cylinder, with a capacity of 1.4 kg (approximately 9.5 litres), is sourced from Vanaz Engineers Ltd., the same supplier that provides the CNG unit for the Bajaj Freedom 125. The petrol tank, however, will be placed on the floorboard and has a capacity of 2 litres.

Under the hood, the Jupiter CNG is powered by the same 124.8cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine used in the petrol version. However, due to the adaptation for CNG usage, the power figures are slightly toned down. The CNG variant is expected to deliver 7.2 hp and 9.4 Nm of peak torque, compared to the 8.1 bhp and 10.5 Nm output of the standard Jupiter 125.
Even so, TVS claims a respectable top speed of 80.5 kmph, making it more than sufficient for everyday urban commuting.
Impressive Mileage and Cost Savings
One of the most talked-about advantages of the TVS Jupiter CNG is its phenomenal fuel efficiency. As per company estimates, the scooter will deliver up to 84 km/kg of mileage in CNG mode. Factoring in both the petrol and CNG tanks, the total riding range is claimed to be around 226 kilometres—an excellent figure for city riders looking to cut down on running costs.
With petrol prices continuing to fluctuate and the increasing awareness around eco-friendly transport, the TVS CNG Scooter is poised to become a smart choice for budget-conscious and environment-aware riders.
Features and Connectivity
On the features front, the TVS Jupiter CNG doesn’t fall short. It carries forward most of the useful features from the petrol variant. These include:
- LED headlamp
- Semi-digital instrument cluster
- USB mobile charging port
- Side-stand indicator
- TVS SmartXonnect app for smartphone connectivity, enabling SMS and call alerts
These features make the scooter well-suited for modern-day commuting, especially in metro cities where practicality, style, and connectivity matter.
Expected Price and Launch Timeline
TVS is expected to launch the Jupiter CNG scooter in India in the second half of 2025, possibly around the festive season. Pricing is yet to be officially revealed, but given the brand’s competitive strategy, it is expected to be positioned attractively in the market.
Once launched, the TVS CNG Scooter will take on the Bajaj Freedom 125, and could even pave the way for more CNG-based two-wheelers in India. With growing concerns about rising fuel prices and increasing pollution, this move by TVS could potentially open up a whole new segment in the Indian two-wheeler industry.
Final Thoughts
The upcoming TVS CNG Scooter is not just another product—it’s a statement. With its clean fuel capability, practical range, and feature-packed offering, it has the potential to redefine urban commuting in India. Whether you’re a daily office-goer or a delivery executive looking to reduce your monthly fuel bills, the TVS Jupiter CNG could be the perfect new-age companion on Indian roads.
